映画「わが青春つきるとも」Film “Even If My Adolescence Ends”

予想通り（と言うか何と言うか・・・）、テスト勉強で忙しかったので暫くブログを更新できませんでしたが、ようやく終わりました！

先週末は梅丘パークホール（世田谷区民ホール）で開催された、映画「わが青春つきるとも　伊藤千代子の生涯」の上映会に行ってきました。

その日は2回の上映予定でしたが、来た人が多すぎて1回目の上映に入りきらなかったので、急遽3回上映に変更されました。こうした上映会が注目を集めるのは良いなと思います、平均年齢75歳くらいだったとはいえ・・・。

こうした映画を何と呼ぶのかよく分かりませんが、インディペンデント映画というのでしょうか。戦争に反対し、治安維持法により投獄され、そこで女性活動家たちのリーダーとなりながら、最期は24歳の若さで肺病で亡くなった社会運動家、伊藤千代子の実話に基づく映画です。治安維持法の犠牲者といえば小林多喜二が有名ですが、私は彼女の事は知りませんでした。

映画の全体的なクオリティーはそこそこかもしれませんが、その話の展開と構成で、2時間という長さでも全く飽きずに観れました。観た後の感想としては・・・何て男は情けないんだ！それに対して女性陣の活動は、勉強会やポスター貼り、労働争議など、一見草の根運動のようですが、歴史を振り返ってみればちゃんと未来へ繋がる一歩になっていました。

会場では治安維持法犠牲者国家賠償要求同盟のチラシももらいましたが、ナチスの被害者用に年金を支払うドイツなど、諸外国と対比し、「悪法でも法は法」という日本政府の姿勢が紹介されていました。

過去に起こった事と、気を付けていないと将来起きてしまうかもしれない事と、立ち向かう事が如何に無駄ではないかという事を勉強する良い機会でした。ちらほら他にも上映会が行われていますが、スケジュールはこちらで確認できます。おすすめです！

As expected (well, sort of…) I couldn’t update this blog for a while, rather busy for the exam. But now it’s finally over!

Last weekend, I went to watch film “Even If My Adolescence Ends, Life of Chiyoko Ito” (*translation is mine) at the film screening held at Setagaya ward hall, Umegaoka Park Hall.

It had been planned as two times screening on that day, but it was suddenly changed to three times, as too many people came to the first screening, and the hall couldn’t accommodate them all! It’s good that this kind of film screening attracts attention, even though the average age of the audiences may be 75 years old or something.

I don’t know how this type of film is called, perhaps independent film? It’s based on the real story of social activist Chiyoko Ito, who was against the war, jailed by Maintenance of the Public Order Act (act, which oppressed citizens opposing war during the war time), became a leader of other women there, but died of pneumonia at the age of 24. Takiji Kobayashi is famous victim of Maintenance of the Public Order Act, but I didn’t know about her.

The overall quality may be so so, but its story and structure wouldn’t let the audiences bored, despite its two hours of duration. After thoughts of watching were.. how pathetic the males are! On the other hand, the activities of women looked grass-roots movement, such as studying, posting posters and striking, but the history proved that their steps were actually firm steps for the future.

I also received the flyers of Alliance for Demanding National Reparations for Victims of Maintenance of the Public Order Act. It tells the attitude of Japanese government, which says it was legal even though the law was a bad law, contrasting with attitude of other countries around the world, such as Germany pays special pension for the victims of Nazi.

It was a good learning of what happened in the past, what could possibly happen in the future if we don’t watch carefully, and how standing up is not a vain. There are screenings here and there and you may check the schedules here. Recommended!
