優生保護法について初めて知ったのは、多分澤藤さんのブログでだったと思います。確かこれかな？

優生保護法の「不良な子孫の出生を防止する」という考えの下、障害のある人々が強制的に不妊治療を受けさせられました。そんな法律がつい最近の1996年まであったなんて、信じ難い事実です。
この法律で人権を侵害された被害者たちはすでにかなり高齢になっており、政府に対し訴訟を起こした原告の中には、既に亡くなった方もいます。政府は上告なんてすべきではないし、私たちも政府に上告をするなと声をあげるべきです。相変わらずビデオニュースドットコムがこの問題を取り上げてくれています。

政府が如何に過去の法律の誤りを認めず謝罪しないかというのは、治安維持法の件も思い出させます。

もちろん誤りを認めて謝れば済むという話ではないけれど、せめてそうするべきです。
と言いつつ、本日の「あったずもな」
ちょうど前回のブログで、伯母の好きな作家である夏目漱石の本をご紹介したので、私の好きな漱石の作品（と言ってもそんなに数は読んでいないのですが）を紹介したいと思います。「坊ちゃん」は滑稽な話がてんこ盛りで面白いのですが、同時に切ない小説で、私のお気に入りの漱石作品です。

I first heard about the Eugenic Protection Law through Sawafuji-san’s blog, perhaps this one.

It’s the law forced some people with disabilities to undergo sterilization, under the idea that the genetic disorders should not be inherited. It’s unbelievable that such law existed until recently, 1996.
The victims of the law, which violated human rights, are already very old, and some of those who sued the government have already passed away. The government should refrain from final appeal, and we should raise voice to stop the government to appeal. Again, videonews.com picked up this issue.

Having said that, today’s ‘time for that’
As previous blog was about a book by Soseki Natsume, one of my aunt’s favourite author, I’d also like to introduce my favourite book of his, though I haven’t read many. “Botchan” is full of funny moments, being sentimental at the same time.
